1. If you have read my previous comments you would see that I did try with
upstream kernels with no luck
2. Today I switched to Ubuntu 10.4 RC hoping that it got fixed - NO LUCK.
3. This problem is not just specific to me but atleast two others in our
office.

Ok, I see that there is a ppa for mainline kernel
(http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.32/) downloaded the
debs and looks like non free module compilation failed

I am not sure if it helps, but when I get disconnected, I do sudo
/etc/init.d/network-manager restart and it gets connected back. Trying
to connect by clicking on the network applet doesnt help so have to
restart.
