I forgot to mention, the program does NOT crash when running with
memcheck, so you could try:
sudo valgrind --tool=memcheck gadmin-proftpd
As a possible workaround, if you are really desperate.

Fixed the issue. It was due to looping/scanning outside the threaded
area.
Did some small cleanups for version 3 as well (same url as above).

I wrote a threaded samba scanner as well.

I wrote a little samba-scanner for this. It doesnt handle IPv6 but it should be

gnome-commander and nautilus doesnt find any hosts but they can be listed.

Also keep a lookout for a "-2" .deb package. Hopefully they also add the
options to make
the server start/not start at boot depending on the last activation state of
gadmin-proftpd.

This problem is solved in more recent versions of gadmin-proftpd.
Ubuntu should consider compiling the proftpd server with
--with-modules=mod_tls so that users dont have to transmit their
usernames and passwords unencrypted over the internet.

Maybe it is simply a packaging problem by the Ubuntu team, or a missing
dependency. I do not have time currently to investigate in depth.

I have the same problem, on the same architecture. Sometimes the window
comes up as grayed out, then it crashes; other times it doesn't even get
a window up (although it does briefly appear on the window list).
When run from terminal:
