I added some additional notes/comments in Bug #284492 that perhaps
should be mentioned here. Specifically:
The system I am trying to run this live cd on uses an integrated NVIDIA
GeForce 7050 PV chipset. I'm looking at my X
Attached is a failsafeX-backup-08101648.tar file that contains the
:0.log, Xorg.o.log, and xorg.conf that were generated when I tried to
run the current nightly intrepid desktop i386 image. I list my system
configuration about.

I'm running into the same problem as well. This happens using both
ubuntu-8.10-beta-desktop-i386.iso and ubuntu-8.10-beta-desktop-amd64.iso
images. My system consists of:
Motherboard - ECS GeForce7050M-M (believe mine is v2.0)
Processor - AMD Athlon LE-1620
Memory- Corsair TWIN2X2048
This happens with both the 64-bit and 32-bit versions as well.
How do I get an updated logfile? It is the only one I have on the
computer. I can't get a log of what happens on the live CD can I?

I also have the same problem maybe it is because I have a 4x slot agp
and the card goes up to 8x agp? I have a duron700mhz 320 mb memory
system running 8.10 ubuntu beta

I would just like to chime in that I am having this same exact problem
on my HP dv6607nr laptop with the GeForce 7150M card using the Beta
release. Hope this can be resolved before final release! i have attached
