What exactly is the issue for system-config-printer (System >
Administration > Printing), can you add the printer? The color
management profiles/cms are not included into the splix package, but
these are only needed for better results and should not prevent you from
printing (also try grays
This is still an issue in Ubuntu 11.04 (I've had my version upgraded doing the
regular dist-upgrade via the GUI).
I've tried adding a Samsung CLP 510 printer as a network printer (ipp) using
the CUPS web interface.

The file CLP-510cms seems to be some color management profile. It is not
contained in the SpliX package. If SpliX considers the absense of this
file a fatal error, this is an upstream bug in SpliX and has to be
reported at http://splix.sf.net/.

Apologies for not responding significantly sooner. I do not know what
happened with the request such that I did not see it.
The short answer is that the 'model' directory and all subdirectories of
that, including samsung and cms did not exist, much less the file CLP-
510cms

'normal' install? What permissions does it have?
