Hi,
I have been investigating this and looking at the scripts that are used
during the process of building an nfsroot. It appears as though the
problem is actually with ipconfig. When I do a tcpdump I do not get any
dhcp request sent by ipconfig despite it saying that its attempting to
do a dhcp r
As soon as I set the IP address manually in the boot syntax It goes
straight past the section where the system hung previously. Here is an
updated bootlog.

I am having a similar issue with Hardy 8.04.1 with NFS Root. However its
very intermittent the nfsroot boots sometimes and other times it just
hangs at

well, we are upstream for initramfs-tools the newer versions usually are in
ubuntu :)
as far as i can see the debian bug was just closed without any result yet, i'll
ask vagrant if he had any solution to this (probably in a different debian bug
or so sicne they talk abotu moving it to initramfs
Okay, poked at the problem a bit. It looks like getting an IP using dhcp
(or bootp, etc) is broken. The debian bug page (original link broken
- sorry. It links to ubuntu bug) suggests this is fixed - maybe - in a
newer version of initramfs-tools.
