I don't think this bug is related to evolution, it should be related to .gvfs
or somethng like that
I heve the problem using gmail.

I am having the same issue when I try to attach a file that is hosted on
a windows computer on the network into my gmail account. I click the
"attach link," browse to the network folder, then choose the file. When
the file choosing dialog returns and disappears, there is nothing in the
attachment

My SMB share is on a Windows Server 2003-based
setting to confirmed so I can reproduce it.
steps:
- connect with nautilus to a smb share with security user.
- try to attach a file to a message in evolution.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# apt-cache policy evolution
evolution:

you add guest permissions to the resource and connect to it, and then

The following appears in the .xsession-errors immediately after I try to
attach a file from a SMB share:

doesn't work for me too when I'm trying to attach a smb file from a
authenticated resource.
If I connect to a guest share, attachment it's ok.
I get this output in .xsession-errors:
