I am having the same issue when I try to attach a file that is hosted on a windows computer on the network into my gmail account. I click the "attach link," browse to the network folder, then choose the file. When the file choosing dialog returns and disappears, there is nothing in the attachment file path box in gmail. I have to copy the file to my local machine, then attach.
