I confirm this.
linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24 (2.6.24-16.23) won't solve the non boot
situation.
I am running AMD64 with Gigabyte nforce430
Previous kernel (2.6.22) works as well.
As far as I can see if live-initramfs is installed, system will boot and
kernel 2.6.24 loads pata_amd (where 2.6.22 l
I have linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24 (2.6.24-16.23) installed and am still
seeing a hang after "Loading Hardware Drivers" in either regular or
recovery mode.
The hang appears to happen at a different random point after the shpchp
loads; sometimes after PC Speaker, sometimes after power button.

Same problem, and I think that the problem is in saa7134 module. In
recovery mode boot process stops after loading saa7134 module!

Updating the modules did solve the booting problem
but I was left with an unusable nVidia card.
Solved this by installing the nVidia drivers from their website.
Also noticed that when in Synaptic to update the kernel modules
there were about 14 other programs availabe to update in
the Installed (

Yes, this fixes the "no boot" problem. I let it go longer as Joachim
suggested. It did indeed go further, but only to "loading manual
modules" then no further.
As xtknight points out, there is another bug involved, that with the
nvidia module. I can confirm xtknight's report

still messed up. nvidia won't load in (sudo modprobe nvidia).

I thought I had this problem, but it turned out that the system just
takes its time to boot. took some 5 minutes of non-responsiveness, but
then came up normally. how long have you waited.

wireless interfaces are trying to come up. One user noticed it hanging
at his broadcom device, it hung trying to bring up my intel 4965 device.
This is on today's hardy desktop amd64 daily-live. As mentioned, can't

Freezes at Loading hardware drivers. Seems like an nvidia problem but I
don't know for sure.
