Problem remains with the new kernel 2.6.24-14-powerpc-smp. Still dont
know hoe to figure put on wich package it depends. Or is it kernel-
related. Single-user mode also remains broken.

OK, this workaround does it also for me.
Seems to be really only a problem of the colors. Text and background colors are
the same.
