I have replicated a similar behaviour with Supermicro X11SCL-iF mobo which uses the AST2500. Unfortunately I don't have assess to the server as it is being tested for a possible hardware issue/s. The reason I originally decided it might be a hardware malfunction was that the BIOS splash screen had

I am not sure how the ASPEED AST driver is maintained in Ubuntu and Linux in general but ASPEED has stated that they recommend using their DRM driver version 1.12 for 5.8 or newer kernels in order "to avoid conflict from multi kernel thread". I have not tried this as it was not clear if the DRM dr
