Changed "device used for DVD playback" and "raw device setup for DVD
access" from /dev/scd0 to /dev/dvd (media tab)
Also changed "directory a media in DVD drive will be mounted" (gui tab).
I honestly don't remember seeing this setting last year so perhaps its
something added since then?

Okay, so if you reset your xine settings to your default, does xine now
work for you in intrepid?
I suspect that something mangled your /dev/dvd symlink in hardy, but

Hi Reinhard,
Quick note. The link you gave us in launchpad is busted. Its coming up
Page Not Found.

Si
are you really sure you are all talking about the same bug?
in particular, can you try the updated packages from the ~motumedia PPA?

I can confirm this behaviour in Gutsy (upgraded from Feisty), using gxine.
Changing device used for playback, as mentioned above doesn't change anything
for me. Still getting "No input plugin was found. Maybe the file does not exist
or cannot be accessed, or there is an error in the URL.", and th
Workaround:
In xine, change the "device used for DVD playback" and "raw device setup
for DVD access" from /dev/dvd to /dev/scd0.
This allowed DVD playback and eliminated the error msg I was receiving
through xine. (I have GStreamer version of Totem installed, or I'd test
it there.)
