This is an old bug, Gutsy is no longer supported.
There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and
your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a
lot if you could test in Ubuntu 10.04 or higher. If it is still an issue, we

I will be re-writing the SMB browsing code so that it will cope properly
with required authentication for printers, using libsmbclient rather
than parsing the output of smbclient. For 0.7.x, it should probably
just set the USER environment variable in pysmb before executing
smbclient.

@Tim Waugh: this is when adding a printer to the system. If you haven't
configured the printer yet, you obviously cannot print to it.

Happens to me too, Windows-ish environment. I can browse workgroups and
servers but when I finally navigate to the print server, it doesn't list
any printers. The arrow next to the server simply goes away, and you
can only either Cancel or Refresh (or click on a different host). This

I have experienced the same issue trying to connect to a printer shared
by a system which resided on a Domain. The system requires
authentication to connect to the printer, so it was not visible from the
SMB Browser [the system and domain are visible, but there are no
printers available on the sys
If you enable the option to save debugging information (i.e. put a check
in that checkbox in Server Settings), and then print a job, there should
be something useful in /var/log/cups/error_log.

Also happens with me.
I can not see the printer in SMB browser. The windows account has
password. If I type the address manually
(smb://workgroup/server/printername), enter the user and the password in
the right fields after checking "Required authentication", and click on
"Verify..." b

Not back at work until Wednesday, I will post the terminal output then.
I don't think it will help though as when I ran it from the terminal
yesterday nothing was output when using the smb browser. I did try it
on 2 different gutsy installs with 2 separate users and had the same
problem. I will p
