I have the same problem as Mr. Fourney above, using Ubuntu Gutsy and
Firefox. I have an ATI graphics card and am using the ATI drivers. My
problem is exactly the same as decribed above, the CPU overloads
constantly when using Firefox and also causes the fan to kick in. I
tried using Epiphany but t
I'm also seeing this in Fedora, running the most recent releases and
updates. I'm pretty sure I don't have the NVidia card. This is an
older gateway, probably an Intel video card?
Firefox seems to be the only offender, other graphical programs don't
cause the logout. I also hear the fan kick on

I am having the very same problem on an AMD 64 HP Pavilion laptop. It happens
very frequently to the point of not being able to use Firefox at all. Also,
using Firefox arbitrarily causes the CPU to scale to its fullest and this falls
back to normal after I close Firefox. I just installed Iceap
