This bug is not fixed in Oneiric, it exists currently and won't let
other compiz plugins like scale work anymore. It was working on my
initial install of Oneiric but has since resurfaced.

I have had the same problem since upgrading to karmic. I use wicd and
have had the problem there as well as NetworkManager. My workaround is
to build a wpa_supplicant configuration for the hidden network and then
have a shell script that starts wpa_supplicant twice, killall
wpa_suppilcant process
I have the same problem on Karmic amd64, with all versions of the nvidia
closed driver (173, 180, and 190). I'm using metacity with compositing
and without compositing still has the problem. Another way to trigger
the slow down is to press F11 to switch to full screen mode and watch

I have this same error mesg, but for me wireless connects to all but
hidden AP's. If I set it to connect to a hidden AP I lose all scanning
ablitiy and have to conect via the command line with iwconfig,
wpa_supplicant and dhclient. Once connect to the hidden AP via this
method I still can't scan

Milan's 22117 patch applied to gtk+2.0_2.14.4 sources fixes the problem
for me in firefox, gedit, and abiword (3 apps I have the most usage and
see the bug in often). I can provide the package if needed for wider
testing so we can get this to the proposed repo.

I'm also seeing this bug in Intrepid. It looks like sometimes the last
size stored isn't available because I can see the window start small and
then get redrawn to a larger size a few milliseconds later. I'm using
compiz and this is an upgraded machine from Hardy.
