Intel 945GM Fails with Intel Driver when Compiz is Enabled

Using compiz from the launchpad repository at:
http://ppa.launchpad.net/compiz/ubuntu , and having all plugins installed
(including main, extra, and unsupported) I went through and checked each plugin
to see if it would crash the xserver. As it turns out, the only one that did
was "magnifier".
Here is the xorg log of a crash resulting from the enabling of the
compiz magnifier. The failure happened immediately and the screen turns
to a scambled pattern of light green, tan, and magenta. In the xorg
log, the line that appears to cause the failure is: "(EE) intel(0):
underrun on pipe B!".
I was incorrect in my original message, it does load the gdm, but it
fails to load the gnome display (most likely due to an error because of
some function called by compiz which causes the graphics driver to
crash).

Another recent development has occured, it appears that only certain
features of compiz cause the crash, for instance the magnifier effect,
if selected, completely shuts down the xserver, while if its not
selected (and only a couple others are) it will function. This could
indicate that certain fu
Since the xserver crashes after I login, does anyone know how to obtain
a Xorg.0.log file from the crash that I can post here? Also any other
information or files needed I can attach as well.

My laptop uses the Intel 945GM graphics card and while under Hardy and

I agree, you cannot be marking this bug as "fix-released" until it works
out of the box. If I wanted to use the Ubuntu live-cd for some computer
maintenance which required wireless internet access, I could not
currently do that because it requires a "blacklist ath_pci" which

in fixing the bug. I just said temporarily closed, while you said

This is not a Ubuntu Bug; it is in fact an error with the package

branch version of this package that can be used to fix this problem, but
the ubuntu development team does not control madwifi in any way. This
