Fixed my problem about the noise.
Hardware problem from a creative lab sound card model ct 4870
Replaced the card with a creative lab model ct 4750 and everything is working
fine
This could a problem with the model ct 4870, it works fine on windows
xp, butt it does not on ubuntu.
EVERYBODY, FORGET ABOUT THE ADDED INFO. tHIS WAS FOR ANOTHER PROBLEM.

from the terminal entering commands like "apt-get install ??" were ??/ is

for the sound. on startup at the line that says "setting the system clock" my
