so I think the issue is not the input method, but probably gnucash (or
gtk implementation in Kubuntu). I have found that it is the worst with
ibus, but these ones do not alleviate it either: fcitx, uim, xim.

well, it seems for me my issue may have just been things didn't
configure properly after clearing out old kernels. i should not have
tried to install the new version of kernel directly. installing the
kernel meta-packages and the kubuntu desktop meta-package seems to have

on the Ubuntu login screen at the bottom (after you click your name),
you can choose to log in NOT in Unity version ("Ubuntu"), but instead in
"Ubuntu Classic" or "Ubuntu Classic (no effects)". I tried this, and
anki is working fine on both Classic and Classic (no effects). this
suggests to me that
I liked the behavior of staying open until a second click to close it.

I have the webdav site saved as a bookmark in nautilus. I click on the
bookmark. I put my user/password. I can see files and browse in folders on the
webdav site. But, when I drag a folder to one of the folders in the bookmarked
folder list on the left side of nautilus, only an
