I saw a few comments above related to libnozzle test suite not being
executed. Due to the nature of libnozzle, the test suite has to be
executed as root unfortunately. The ioctl required to manage tap devices
are privileged only.

- Kill the gnome-panel on (Ctrl-Alt-F1) terminal
- return to desktop (Alt-F7)
- click where the log-out icon should be on the panel (the panel is completely
empty but the icons on it works)
- I log-out
- I log-in again. This time the pane

Ubuntu 9.10.

Well... if I remove all config about eth0 in /etc/network/interfaces, the
network-manager applet in gnome says: Device is unmanaged under wired network.
But the Ethernet network works perfectly.

I did some more test on my machine.
The problem disappears it the visual effects are set to 'none'.
I even tried to set the effects to none, then log-off and log-on again (the

I finally solved creating a new profile from the scratch and than copying all
the setting and bookmarks.
Bookmarks and saved password can be copied easily, the other setting can be set
in few minutes.
In my case the problem seemed to be in the places.sqlite file but anything

A workaround that worked for me was to comment the following two lines
on the file /etc/network/interfaces
#iface eth0 inet dhcp
#auto eth0
I cannot check if this disables the lan interface because I'm using only a
wireless connection.

The problem was in the file places.sqlite of my profile.
I fixed the problem substituting the file with an other one from a new fresh
profile.
I don't know where is the corruption inside the file, I attach it if somebody
want to analyze it.
Anyway, this substitution fixed the problem.

the kernel ABI breaking subsystems that depends on alsa like v4l
or the load of any external built module that depends on alsa.

maintaince and it's not mature enough to hit main.

Matthias, I can confirm this problem too and part of the solution is to
copy libpcre3 i386 into /usr/lib32.
I can also see another regression with vmware-server:

exec/totem.h defines INTERFACE_MAX to 2. This is very limiting and it is not
coherent with the rest of the cluster stack.

kernel dlm to 3
dlm_controld to 4

same patch as above for feisty. Same logic but note that it is slightly
different
and can't be cherry picked.
In detail there are a couple of extra changes required to make the gutsy
patch work:
