It's 2018 and this bug is still here; running 4GB ram 64bit + Live 5.1
and the effect is just like here.

Yea, I'm on nvidia-current now and the situation is worse - upon resume
from suspend, the shadow underneath the unity panel slide-out exists,
yet when I slide it out, a few second hang occurs.
These hangs are random later on, and persist, untill I log out/log in.

Hi, I have the same situation - I type in my password blindly upon
resume, press enter twice and I log into a desktop functional, aside
some corruption "shadow" where the unity panel slides out.

Stopping apparmor then restarting mysql then stopping mysql and starting
apparmor and starting mysql while apparmor is started works fine over

I am having the same bug with Totem, trying to play a DVD in the latest
Lucid Lynx on amd64.\
It seems it's a libdvdnav issue, not a vlc nor Totem issue.

If I take the pdf file, convert it to ps using pdf2ps and then to pdf
using ps2pdf, it works just great, and prints everything flawlessly.

The kernel is the latest amd64 kernel as of yesterday. I have backports
enabled. Hashing out tpm_infineon module or using rmmod on it is enough
to have the machine sleep properly.

Since 10.04, my laptop does not suspend properly with tpm_infineon

If I remove them, it works just right :)

Same issue here with a TP-Link WR340GD router.
It too requires only setting up the 21 port forward, but beware, do not
alter the pasv_address ! it has to come from the local ip address,
otherwise the router magic gets confused and it doesn't work.

What I'd say this is is not so much a bug report, rather, a feature
request - in my opinion, if you select download and upgrade security
packages automatically, or just download automatically, update-manager

I believe the problem is with libgg.so, as usual, we will just have to
wait for a ppa with telepathy-sunshine which properly supports GG
protocol.
It is very unfortunate nobody cares enough to support it right, and that
we're forced to use it (XMPP is so much better).

The problem still occurs with Pidgin 2.6.5 (using the pidgin-developers
ppa with Karmic).
The image now appears correctly in the chat window (the outbound chat
window) but when I press return to send the picture message, pidgin
hangs.

I too have a Compal EL80 and Ricardo's fix worked so well for me.
Thanks Ricardo, this should be incorporated in mainstream if a machine
says it's a COMPAL EL80 (and it does and is quite linux friendly so it
deserves to be there in acpi-fixes list or however it is called in
Ubuntu;-))

I've tried sending a file ulotka.png to a contact.
It just hangs.
If I send something smaller (about 9kB, 222kB) it works fine!
It only has problems with files bigger than 256KB.
As far as I know, the protocol has problems with files above 256kB (it
does not support them).

Problem seems to occur sometimes. No idea when exactly as usually the
machine is off by the time I recieve it (it's a laptop and another
person uses it sporadically with guest session).

events on my X40.
Any ideas?
I used to fiddle with /etc/modprobe.d/thinkpad_acpi.modprobe and passed
hotkey=enable brightness_mode=1 to it, but I'd rather not fiddle with
default settings of Ubuntu.

I had a similar issue with 2.6.28-8 after an update just recently. In my
case, udev was broken (I must've interrupted dpkg/apt-get/aptitude
during an update, and /sbin/udevadm.upgrade was not properly upgraded
and moved to /sbin/udevadm - I had messages reporting the lack of
/sbin/udevadm during bo

machines whenever I try to use STATIC KEY for OpenVPN, I'm asked for

With 8.10 and 2.6.27-9, I still had this issue. I tried to move from 177
(which worked okay, but showed artifacts on titlebars in windows, a
known bug, upstream) to 173 (which too seemed to have the titlebar
issue, about which I found out later), it wouldn't work right.

How's it working so far?
I have an X40 and 8.10 on it, and docking/undocking still doesn't work.
libata module links to bay module, so I guess there is already some
cooperation in between those two in the kernel, but whenever I press the
undock button and the notebook was booted up inside the doc
Yeah, the only downside to this "solution" is that before the first
sleep, the power manager seems a little laggy, whenever I set brightness
up/down. Then after I suspend the notebook, it works just fine like it's
supposed to.
That however could be solved by passing a proper thinkpad_acpi option t

removing acpi_sleep=s3 from the bios options, and blacklisting video,

There is also another solution to this, so far I find it a bit better.
What you do is:
blacklist video
(add 'video' to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist)

Another fix you can try, instead of the PipeA stuff, is blacklisting
'video' module and adding nmi_watchdog=0 to grub's menu.lst.

so I enabled ForceEnablePipeA, however, that makes my Xorg.0.log spew:

The bug seems to be back with Intrepid.
Before (in 8.04.1) on my X40 laptop (Intel 855GM) I used i810 driver and
it worked ok.
Now, in Intrepid Ibex 8.10 there is no more i810 driver - and so I am
stuck with Intel driver.
It already caused me headaches, namely with these random black screen
