I don't know if this is still an issue in Ubuntu 8.10. As final, every day
user I simple changed my backup software (rsync...).
I suggest to investigate this bug deeply further, submitting it to upstream or
something else.

I noticed exactly same problem with Totem, Epiphany and flashplugin-
nonfree. I have Gnash installed but it's not the default in update-
alternatives.

I have a problem like this on a Dell 640m (Core duo, 945GM). However I
don't get a corrupted screen. On VT1 (alt+F1) I can read messages Grub

I confirm the issue. My hotkeys worked fine with Edgy. With Feisty sound
and brightness hotkeys works but not Fn+F2 for Wifi. My actual kernel is
