Yes, Nautilus'/GVFS' handling of SFTP timeouts is atrocious. Not sure
how this could happen with a brand-new 21st century rewrite of a network
backend, but nevermind.
As a workaround, try the following in a terminal:
gvfs-mount -l

What year is this, 1990? Linux KNOWS that the USB device has been
disconnected - unmount it. This worked fine in 7.10, was broken in 8.04
and still is broken in 8.10.
And saying that yanking a USB drive will make it useless is disingenuous
- at least once writing is finished, it is nigh-impossible

- Use Gnome.
- set SMplayer to use only one instance (Options -> Preferences -> Interface ->
Instances)
- open a media file by double-clicking in Nautilus. SMPlayer will have focus
and be in front
- when opening a second media file
I came across the 'Power Manager unchecked' problem as well. Given that
responses seem to suggest that this is the cause for most people, I

Actually, on Firefox 2, the middle-click behaviour was more sensible -
with middlemouse.paste set to 'true', middle-clicking in text boxes
would paste text, but not give this annoying (and modal) message.
Middle-click to paste is useful across X-based apps, so disabling it is
unwise, but with Firef

With 2:2.1.1-0ubuntu2, the screen now rotates. However, there are severe
graphics corruption issues - the rotated desktop is unusable. An
exception to this for some reason is Firefox - although the interface
elements are corrupt, webpages are drawn perfectly.

That's would be a reason for mythtv-themes to depend, wouldn't it? And
it should be trivial to symlink Arial (etc.) to something else instead,
as a 'fake-msttcorefonts' sort of package.

Hmm. Coming back to this one.. there should be a smarter way of doing
this. If you are in a locale that would require xmltv-util for normal
operation (e.g. UK), then install it. This should be doable within apt,
no?
