as after the 13.04 --> 13.10 upgrade the old 3.8.0-31 kernel had not been
removed, I tried to boot the system with the old kernel to see if it was a
kernel problem.
But the result was the same: the battery applet still showing 0% with full
charged battery.

1) Boot into windows --> run ASUS update utility --> update BIOS to last version
2) Reboot and checked bios
3) Reboot into Kubuntu
4) First suspend attempt, resume successful
5) Second suspend attenpt, resume fail --> BLACK SCREEN
6) switch off with the power buttom

Ok, I am now able to exactly reproduce the crash.
Here are the steps to follow:
1) Start up ubuntu 8.04.1 in my laptop
2) open Nautilus file manager
3) navigate until I reach a .tex file
4) right click -> Open with --> Open with Kile
5) put Kile in icon mode
6) navigate with nautilus until I find
My 'dmesg' output after the X crash and subsequent Xorg restart.
PS: THIS BUG REPORT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH 'YELP', IT WAS A MISTAKE TO

Some time passed since I posted this bug, but if I remember well (I don't have
ubuntu 7.10 any more), I was not able to reproduce the bug and there was an
error on the procedure I used on the 64bit machine.

Actually the problem arised on a PC with an old Cirrud Logic Video card with a
small memory, so the display is set to 16bit.
If I put the display to 24bit I must pass to a low resolution of 800x600, and
the crash does not occur.
With 16bit 1024x768 the command:
