Dropping to a virtual console and back appears to work around the issue

Debugging should just work, provided that you have the gdb debugger
backend (monodevelop-debugger-gdb on ubuntu). Are you able to debug C
programs from MD?

New info in case it helps :
The temp still keeps rising... I have to stop the watch command and
issue it again as if the fan would stop after a while and only the
command would start it again
As soon as I restart the watch command, it's fine again.

Although when I issue the command and temp starts to drop immediately (10 ° C
lower), I don't hear more noise as if my fans were started by the command
(maybe ball-bearing fans are very silent.).
