I tried sudo hal-disable-polling --device /dev/sr0, restarting udev, and
even the firmware update. Unfortunately udevadm monitor still shows
repeats of the following (about once a second):

Thanks for the tip Prakash - I can also confirm the brightness keys now
work on my Lenovo G530 with kms enabled using 2.6.34-020634rc6-generic

Confirmed with my Lenovo G530.
Without any changes to boot params, the brightness keys work until

Using acpi=off works also (no events generated, handled by bios
I suppose), but is useless as it kills

This bug still exists in Lucid. See below output from gvfs-mount, it
knows it is a "[drive-harddisk]" but still types it as "x-content/image-

Yeah this is not a good look for a key application in the default
install. I've switched back to New Wave which retains the dark panel and
window decorations, but looks fine for open office.

I get the same kind of error trying to install packages from the command

I was having the same problem and have looked a bit more into what is
causing it in my case.
By default theres a check for a PICTURES folder (note all caps), which
triggers recognition as a "Picture CD", regardless of whether the device
is a CD or not (which is a bit daft - fixing this would be th
Yeah I think I'm hitting this too. Also a vanilla Ubuntu Desktop 8.04

If I ssh -X in, users-admin fails with the "Unable to lookup session

I was getting similar problems on an iBook, PPC 500Mhz.
Note that the upstream bug (gnome bug 491047) has since been closed with
a fix. I backported the fix to the network-manager as shipped with gutsy
(its just a couple of lines).
You can build a fixed package pretty easily, or I can upload the
