Yeah I think I'm hitting this too. Also a vanilla Ubuntu Desktop 8.04 install.
If I ssh -X in, users-admin fails with the "Unable to lookup session information" error. This worked fine from Dapper through to Feisty (ie pre-policy kit mess). If it helps: % polkit-auth --show-obtainable % ck-list-sessions % ^ Both of them return nothing at all!
