Confirmed with my Lenovo G530. Without any changes to boot params, the brightness keys work until gdm, (eg ok during plymouth) and also in single user mode. No acpi events are generated though.
Using acpi=off works also (no events generated, handled by bios I suppose), but is useless as it kills suspend, battery status and other important things. For me, acpi_backlight=video and =vendor both had no effect. Trying nomodeset was successful. Plymouth looked ugly, but it booted ok, brightness keys work and generate osd notify bubbles, and acpi_listen shows appropriate events: # Down video DD03 00000087 00000000 # Up video DD03 00000086 00000000 I'll try and build a kernel with the patch from https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15054, and see if works with kms. -- [Karmic & Lucid Beta 1] Brightness fn keys lost functionality (Lenovo laptops) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/406515 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
