However there is an easy workaround, just use the menu Edition -> Add files or

gnome-volume-manager uses gnome-mount to mount volume.
and if an entry is present in /etc/fstab, gnome-mount will launch the mount
command on the correspond mount point so the fstab options are used.
For the cdrom, gnome-mount will just do:
mount /media/cdrom0
Could you check type that comman
/media/cdrom0 is usually in the /etc/fstab, so the options given in /etc/fstab
will be used for mounting.
For the cdrom they are usually: "user,noauto" and as the user option imply
noexec, this is the reason why /media/cdrom0 is mounted noexec.

Ok I had some time to investigate what I discovered (in comment 68).
Still not sure if it's the cause of this bug but I am now able to
reliably reproduce a serious similar bug:
1. launch users-admin
2. create a test1 user
3. create a test2 user (with admin rights)
4. create a test3 user
5. delete
I maybe have found something in system-tools-backend which could explain
this weird bug.
system-tools-backends looks at the line number instead of the group name to see
if a group have been deleted/added/modified.
Just look at the set function in
/usr/share/system-tools-backends-2.0/scripts/User

/etc/group, it just changes the gid of your main group in /etc/passwd.
If you have a standard /etc/group, users GID is 100. Could you check

I think "Users and Groups" is supposed to not show system users and groups to
not confuse users (the GNOME spirit !).
So I suppose that under Debian/Ubuntu, it should rather only show GID >= 1000.
Basic system groups seems to be "exposed" via the privilege tabs, hence

I am able to reproduce a similar bug on gutsy:

This bug happens because the ftp ls output is incorrectly parsed in the
gnome_vfs_parse_ls_lga function.
The attached patch solves the bug.
The symlink target was also incorrectly parsed if there were space in it.
This patch also solves this bug.
I put updated gnomevfs package with the patch app
I dont' reprocuce this bug on gutsy. I am able to gedit a ftp file and to play
a ogg file over ftp with totem.
Ftp over gnomevfs seems to support seek.

not reported at all for sftp://, Unknown is always displayed.
