I have fixed this bug on my pandaboard by re-compiling the mplayer2
package from source.
fix:
apt-get build-dep mplayer2
apt-get source mplayer2
cd mplayer2-2.0-134-g84d8671
dpkg-buildpackage
cd ..
dpkg -i mplayer2_2.0-134-g84d8671-2build1_armel.deb
... replacing mplayer2 2.0-134-g84d8671-2build1
this bug are still reproducible using
libavformat53_4:0.7.3-0ubuntu0.11.10.1 in combination with mplayer2
when testing on a pandaboard then the movie plays fine using totem but fail
using mplayer2.

The 3.0.8-1-ac100 never boots for me, i have tested rebooting it 5 times
then tested to remove the battery and after that tested to reboot it 5
more times, no luck here. I am using the "android 2.1" bootloader.

actual behaviour:
User see a nice Toshiba logo from the android bootloader and thats it.
** Affects: linux-ac100 (Ubuntu)
Importance:
This bug are symptom of the following issue:
The user's shell return instantly.
The python script are trying to run chroot / sudo -u username -- id -u in order
to fetch the uid.
Unfortunally the users shell terminate instantly and the id command are not
invoked.
testcase 1:
try press ctrl+alt f1
The user specified actually got created by the installer
if I
1. reboot
2. gets back into the beginning of ubiquity and then
3. hit ctrl-alt-f1 i can login but then gets logged out again.

It work! Now java applications can use up to around -Xmx2909M on the panda.
This will allow compilation of eclipse on ARM where -Xmx2048M are in use.
As a bonus java applications can run 50% more concurrent threads with
the patched kernel.
