Q: Do you know of any past security updates that have added or removed fields in core classes like String? No such changes have never been introduced by a Security update.
This is to my knowledge the fist time field got removed from tring since the begining of OpenJDK. We may have found this String field removal earlier if we had packaged and tested Avian against OpenJDK 8 where this change got first introduced some months ago: http://mail.openjdk.java.net/pipermail/core-libs-dev/2012-May/010257.html I will close this bug for now, this bug is already fixed when Avian is used in combination with IcedTea 7 2.3 and later. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1047389 Title: java -avian sigsegv on startup if used with a different OpenJDK 7 compared to the one it got built against.
