confirm that the problem is related to the peaq-wmi module having been
recently whitelisted as using modprobe to remove peaq-wmi fixes the

Same here. I have a ThinkPad X201 and a Dell 24" display connected via
DisplayPort to the X200 UltraBase. I can log into Unity without a
problem but when trying to change the resolution, I get a blank screen.
But I can "solve" the problem by running this in terminal:

I'm running 10.10 with a Nokon D300s and there are similar problems in
Shotwell. I saw some stuff on the kernel-list (wich I didn't fully
understand) and dmesg says:

I see the same problem on 10.04 (2.6.32-24) after upgrade from kernel 2.6.28-18.

Of course the best solution would be to replace the formula editor with
built-in formula support and define a keyboard shortcut to switch
between WYSIWYG and LaTeX like mode. (like Word 2007)

I can confirm that resume is *not* working on my Lenovo W500 with an ATI
Mobility FireGL V5700,fglrx, compiz, Intrepid, 2.6.27-11-server. It
gives me the black screen when trying to resume.
One try with Dave's scripts (http://github.com/techarcana/fglrx-support)
made it work perfectly -- thanks, D
I also cannot get 1280x800 with Ubuntu 8.10 on the same notebook. The
Xorg.0.log is enclosed. I installed all the available updates on Feb 20
2009.
