This is more related to the nvidia driver, so switching over from kernel
makes sense...
The nvidia-current-updates unfortunately behaves exactly as nvidia-
current, so it doesn't work.
Current version at the moment of writing: 304.51-0ubuntu1
Anything else I can provide? :-)
About the issues wi
It seems to work ok with the default ubuntu kernel 3.5 as well (without
nvidia-current being installed), so I guess this is more a nvidia driver
issue.

Hi, I saw you updated the description with a workaround. This may work
for most people, but it doesnt for the Lenovo W510 it seems ...

I then uninstalled the mainline and reinstalled the ubuntu default

Oh, something worth mentioning is probably that I had to uninstall the
nvidia-current drivers for the mainline kernel to be installable...

I just received this bug on a Lenovo W510 (nvidia quattro fx880) after
upgrading from 12.04 (where this bug did not exist for me) to 12.10.
After adding the several times mentioned acpi=force, sometimes the machine
turns off but most the time it doesn't.

I would love a fix for that too, especially middle click pasting is
nice! Additionally launching programs with arguments would also be very
nice, like "vncviewer address:display", which does not work in the dash.

I updated packages today, there was a bamfdaemon updated package amongst
them, and it actually seems like it is fixed now ... The report tool
told me texmaker was not a genuine ubuntu package, because I was using
v3.0. That's why I didn't use that.
