This issue is happening to me as well.
Insert any movie DVD, and recieve "could not read from resource." DVD
playback worked perfectly in Gutsy until April 25 when I did a clean
install of Hardy.

I have moved to a fresh install of 8.04 final.
* Using Envy NG to install new drivers has no effect.
* Color controls in the window decoration applet under advanced desktop effects
has no effect on shadow color
* Sliding opacity control causes shadows to appear and disappear randomly.

In a clean install of Hardy Heron full release, it works as expected. I
think this bug should be closed.

Last night I pushed the suspend key on my keyboard to suspend (S3) the
computer.
This morning, five hours later, I pressed a USB key to restore the
computer from suspend. Nothing happened.

working fine. The only problem I have is that the icon in the panel
for volume shows muted when nothing is muted, and muting it does
nothing. It is an issue with the panel object, not my sound system.

DVD's, and listen to mp3's and .ogg files without any issues. The volume
controls are working fine as is my sound card.

I downloaded the .iso for 8.04 RC. Upon booting from CD, no option was
given to upgrade my existing setup. Instead, I was walked through
blowing away my entire root filesystem partition instead without any
word "upgrade" being presented from the menu when booting from the CD.
I am also experiencing pink drop shadows, shadows missing
intermittently... Adjusting color in the advanced desktop settings has
no effect. It is properly set to black and yet drop shadows are pink.
Running 8.04 RC on Nvidia 8500 GT.
