Sorry, but there is still a BUTTON on Windows 7 for that, just not with an
icon on it... the right most portion of the start bar, past even the
clock/date, if you hover it show a "preview" of the desktop making the
windows transperant, if you click, you get them all minimized (i.e. the

I have installed from an Ubuntu installation the meta-package
lubuntu-desktop... therefore it already have the indicator-application and
other possible dependencies.
When I try to add the Indicator appletes in the panel they both disapear
(indicator applets and notification area) rendering me noth
I have since upgraded as requested.. I have been using Planner less
since the bug report, but in my attempts so far I could not reproduce
the faulty state, so it looks that the patch might have solved the
issue.

After a really short uptime, when I am logged in my Natty box, under
Unity, compiz start using A LOT of memory, up to a point that my system
has to swap... it was never like this in previous Ubuntu versions, and
not even on Beta2 of Natty.

solved for me... not sure what is going on with the other users affected.

black screen during the boot when apt got me this really odd message:

and QUIET commented to grub to showup... also, probably related,

not using the same kernel in Natty (you could, but you would have to
manually choose it in the Grub menu during the boot, if you haven't remove
it yet). My Natty systems are running 2.6.38-8. Please, check again if you

Hey, I have just checked that the Compiz binding is correct, that is, there
is a Super+D set to show the desktop... still its not working as it should.
And Alt+Tab was not set to Next Window, although, Alt+Shift+Tab was set to
Previous Window :-/

It used to work for me, but now it has stoped... kind of... Super+D
sometimes change the running application (hides Terminal and Opens Chromium
Browser) much like the Alt+TAB would, sometimes it hides every application
(showing the desktop).
By the way, Alt+TAB also stopped working, for good.

Oddly, I get to check the temperatures in Ubuntu-Classic (gnome) via the
sensors-applet (some how they can still get temperatures from CPU and
HDD) and it is quite hot CPU=63C and HDD=53C, not sure if I can read the
GPU on this machine... but I think that is what is heating up the
system... the fan

Is there an "easy" way (other than manually opening every single piece
of application) to verify if there are icons or any other information
missing from the Unity menu from anything installed in Ubuntu? I know
for a fact that not every app is compatible with Unity (they may keep
their menus inside
