@clel yes under pointer speed I have two sliders Acceleration and Sensitivity.
Neither has any effect.
BUT I was able to fix it today by removing libinput and installing evdev! Now
both sliders work like before and I can increase acceleration. I don't see any

Booting with "acpi=on"
When pressing a function key on the laptop the notification system shows the
correct icon but the task doesn't happen.

This is strange. The Debian version of the package has the command in
the right place, and I can't find in the git history a time when this
was not so.
Could it be a problem only with the Ubuntu package?

Ah, I see. Unortunately I don't know if the package in hardy can be
updated (I'm one of the Debian maintainers but I'm not familiar with
