Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: heimdal-kdc
If you install heimdal-kdc on a freshly installed ubuntu 10.04 system,
installation will hang after configuration. You must reboot your
computer, and reinstall.

Hello. I am using debian lenny, with the smbk5pwd overlay. It works OK,
but since heimdal 1.1 it needs to be patched before compiling.
Otherwise, it crashes slapd when you change a password. You can have a
look at debian bug #443073.
I suppose it will happen the same on newer versions of ubuntu, i
Definitely, this is serious security problem that should not be present
on a LTS version. I can't understand why it is marked as "wishlist".
This is an Ubuntu problem, since it is not present on Debian Lenny.

I have been triying to retrieve the info you request from gdb, but there
is a problem. The page at the ubuntu wiki explains how to debug an app
that crashes. But, in this case, Nautilus doesn't crash. It is only the
properties window that disappears when you click on the "Launcher" tab.
So gdb sta
Here's the log. It's from Mint Linux KDE, since I don't have access to a
Kubuntu installation, but I have tried Kubuntu 8.04.1 in the past on the
same machine and happened the same bug.
I can't see anything wrong in the log.

After installing with xforcevesa, you can try the following:
- Log in through kdm in failsafe console mode (by choosing it on the "Sessions"
menu)
- Then type "kwin &". Now you have a window manager.
- Type "kcontrol"
- Open the X display configurator, and set the driver to "VESA".
- Restart.

I am experiencing a similar problem, also with an ATI 9200. LiveCD hangs
on startup (I only can see a big white square). It gets solved adding
the "xforcevesa" option.
When I install it, it dispays KDM login properly, and I can even start a

Hello. I am using krb5/winbind authentication, and having the same
problem. I have tried the patch linked by levien, and it works well with
local users, but completely breaks sudo for domain users (before
applying the patch, i was able to use sudo with domain users, the
problem was only with gksu).
I have noticed this bug had already been reported on the discussion
about the bug 15093. So this is a duplicate.

Public bug reported:
I join an Active Directory domain, using Krb5 and winbind. I have done it both
following the howtos from the Ubuntu forums, and using SADMS. Everything goes
ok. Then, when I log on, sudo still works as normal, but gksudo (or gksu) stops
working.
