Fixed under 5.0.0.5
Looking back at my previous comments from 2014-10-06 20:48:53 EDT and the test
protocol presented, I tried to recreate the problem under 5.0.0.5. The PROBLEM
IS SOLVED under the new version!!! When the query goes out, the response is
nearly instantaneous AND the network acces
I feel pretty strongly that this fix should be pushed out *immediately*,
even in its currently incomplete state. This one would make most users
downgrade or even switch back to Windows immediately.
When I was experiencing this bug every 5 minutes, I really felt like I
was using alpha-quality soft

@Kamil:
I think the /etc/gdm/PostSession/Default fix is acceptable for Gutsy
(the idea is to kill any remaining nautilus processes at logout). The
only issue I still have is that I can't run nautilus normally as a root
user, but I just do that in a terminal now and press Ctrl+C when I'm
done.

I advise everyone experiencing this bug to switch to Emerald for theme
management, as it doesn't look like anyone will be fixing this bug any
time soon.
Emerald has the potential to look and act a lot nicer, and it is
infinitely more customizable than the Compiz GTK decorator, with a wide

Even though I don't think this bug qualifies as high- or severe-
importance, it is a problem with a major OS component, and the
PostSession workaround seems to have undesirable side effects for some
people. Just imagine if Microsoft left a bug in their Windows Explorer

I've switched to using Emerald as my theme engine, mainly because of

Yes, it is still a bug. The login/logout is not the only case that is
affected by this problem - when I am logged in as myself and I run a
nautilus window as root, it does not exit normally. I have to kill the
process manually after closing the nautilus window.
I don't know anything about the wa

There is a better workaround for this bug. Assuming you use gdm for
login, open the file /etc/gdm/PostSession/Default and add the 'killall
nautilus' or 'sudo killall nautilus' (I used 'pkill nautilus') before
the exit statement in that script. That way nautilus will be killed as

I'm using Nautilus 2.20.0 on Ubuntu Gutsy (upgraded from Feisty - I suspect the
fact that I upgraded is somehow relevant). Sometimes, if I close a Nautilus
