Ubuntu 12.04. This device worked very well under previous versions, and
even under 12.04 some time ago. I believe updates broke it. I've tried
the device with a windows 7 machine, and it works flawlessly.

Reboot seems to have fixed it. 'Gnome Settings' was hung before the
reboot could take place. Not sure what caused it.

Followup to #31:
After seeing the 'gspca: disconnect complete' line in dmesg, I executed
the following:
sudo rmmod gspca_spca500
sudo rmmod gspca_main
sudo modprobe gspca_spca500
And the following appeared in dmesg:

Response to #15 -- I was getting this same error:

Instead of running 'sudo apt-get install wine', try 'sudo apt-get
install wine1.2'. That worked for me.
Seems dpkg gets confused because i
