I ignored this in the past since I had other, more important things to
solve - I'm sorry. I have lost my authority so I can't really go ahead
and ask anyone to do something anymore. I think your icon looks fine,
although it changes the shape a bit compared to the current icon, it

Cranking up the gamma on the images I can confirm that the black area
isn't entirely filled with just black. As the colors are very close to
black the severity of the problem entirely depends on the brightness of
the display.

Everyone is wanting to assign this bug to me and I'm fine with that

I think removing the shutdown sound is not that big of a problem - Mac
OS X hasn't got one and instead of being let down by the absence of a
sound, I'm glad it shuts down as fast as possible. If we already have
machines shutting down within a few seconds of selecting the option,
there aren't much s
I can confirm this as well. Because the problem is apparent in the
default theme, the bug is carried over to my / our Ubuntu specific
Human, Tangerine and Tango themes. As I have absolutely no clue yet what
is causing this problem on the default theme I'm not jumping in straight
away to fix this.
I think the maximal safe length is 0 seconds as we can't really be
certain that the shutdown action will take at least a certain amount of
time. This might even be the reason that Apple decided to not include a
shutdown sound since OS X shuts down very fast as well. The best route
to take might be

The problem is actually fixed in Dapper for the default install using
the default font size, but it breaks once the font is set to a smaller
size. Not sure how to fix this without making the dialog ridiculously

The removal of the quick search bookmarks is intentional. The search box
on the top right replaces this behaviour. Please see the ubuntu-devel
