I also experience this bug on ATI Rage Mobility M1 with a very similar XOrg.log.
On lubuntu 14.04 it causes lightdm to enter an infinite loop, can't even login
graphically.
I think this is the corresponding upstream bug, which has been fixed.

I'm having the same issue, but with the help system in eclipse 3.7.2.
Looks like it's coming from webkit that blocks certain ports for security
issues. If you search google for "Not allowed to use restricted network port"
you'll see similar reports. Apparently there's no way to override this beha

Could this be happening as a result of a nautilus crash? My system has

Could you check your syslog and see if you have any messages related to
usb?
I'm also experiencing weird USB failures. I think it's the upgrade to kernel
3.0.0-14.23 that triggered these problems for me.
Although my problem is not directly related to this bug (usb printer scanner
not recognized)
Is there any way to delete the contact that causes this bug without

Is there going to be a bug fix somewhere?
Just wondering how long we need this workaround.
We probably need to mark this bug as a duplicate of bug #801719.

Chris,
The workaround from bug #801719 worked for me on my E6520.
More precisely:
sudo modprobe -r firewire-ohci
sudo modprobe firewire-ohci quirks=0x10 debug=0xf
So how can we make this persistent after reboot?
Thanks

Could someone explain:
-why this functionality needs to be removed?
-what the recommended way to create launcher?
I find this feature very useful, so please don't remove it unless you have a
good reason and an easy way to do the same.
Thanks

Yes we would need something like you said, or more like the x11vnc way:
vino -connect test.dyndns.net:5500
At least we need a command line, so we can easily add a shortcut menu item.
But for grandma a gui in the line of what vino/vinagre provides would be best.
The idea is to make it as easy as
The image you attached is of the client, what we need is a gui for the server
to initiate a reverse connection.
In other words: a way for grandma to click somewhere and say connect to my

I suppose that would mean some new menu option that opens a gui which lets the
user start a rever
Reverse vino is a must have feature for allowing support across the

Bu
Rolf, Leann,
I see your point and understand the need for precision, and I do
appreciate the time you're spending on this. Bug 124406 started with
something that is probably related to xorg, and quickly got mingled with
the usb reset issue, which is what I struggled with until I rearranged
my usb
I can understand the messiness of this thread, but this is a messy bug,
and that's no reason close it. A developer who wants to work on this bug
can find many entry points to start with. For example Rolf Leggewie has
show lately an interesting case of this bug on a usb 1.1 machine, and

Rolf,
We all know it's not specific to ubuntu, there's plenty of comments and
links in this long thread pointing to the same issue on other distro.
However this thread is probably the most active in discussing this
issue. I guess that's the price for success ;) and the fact that there

Actually I have another theory: the bug happens when a low speed usb
device is connected on the same hub as a high speed device. That's just
a theory, but so far I have connected my mouse and keyboard on the same
hub, with no other device on it, and I have not had the problem yet.

Following BobRoss suggestion I tried another live CD. Because I saw less
reports of this problem on the Arch distro, I went ahead and tried
Chakra Linux alpha2 live CD, a distro derived from Arch. I was able to
reproduce the bug right from start, but I only noticed it when looking
at the kernel log
I have experienced the problem again even though the mouse was connected
directly to the laptop. The root of the problem is very elusive. I
really don't want to buy another hardware, that's not the solution at
all. As far as I am concerned, the only option I have left is to try
another linux distri
I also have it on Kubuntu 9.04 amd64 with kernel 2.6.29. My most interesting
facts are:
- I had this bounce key pb when installing from kubuntu 9.04 live CD! I had to
restart with my mouse connected to the laptop to continue
- it only happens on my 7 ports D-link usb hub (DUB-H7), not on my hama
Ok I've been trying several things and here is what I can say:
- this problem is not related to keyboard and mouse connected to the same
external usb hub, since I had it with the mouse only
- this problem happens only on one of my hub: D-link DUB-H7 ports USB 2 hub.
I've got another 4 port hub a
