I am getting the "Aw, Snap!" message regularly now. I pulled the most
recent updates today and ever since, about 1 in 8 pages starts to
display and then displays the Aw, Snap error... Firefox renders these
pages fine.

I installed Galileo from source on Eclipse project site on my desktop
and all was well... When installing from repos on my EeePC, I could not
install Android because of this error... Adding
"http://download.eclipse.org/releases/galileo"; to my list resolved the
error and allowed me to install Andro

Buttons weren't working correctly. "Install New Software" list was
empty.
Buttons were the GDK bug. Empty software list was something with either
my .eclipse folder or my WORKSPACE/.metadata - I removed both and am now
able to install what want without issues.

Update: So, with metacity, the above listed symptoms disappear. Seems

Experiencing the same thing under 8.10 beta. Was able to work around
under feisty with the cstate solution - no longer available. Noise was
present in Gutsy, but to a lesser extent. Now, under Ibex, the volume
of the noise seems higher.

I am also experiencing this problem after distro upgrade to 8.10 from
8.04. When the screensaver activates, the screen fades to black and
then goes back to awake status without loading the selected screensaver.

nvidia-settings shows powermizer performance level to be at '2'. So all is

Ditto here... I too have tried every remedy claimed to work without any
real success. No one really seems to have a legit answer on the
question - there are a lot who claim to, but none of what 'works' for
them, works for me. I have tried the scripts, I have tried the modprobe

I get the exact same error output at Lorant on the same platform (Hardy
64) with the same icedtea plugin. Some applets will load, but others
will not. Example: weather.noaa.gov radar loops will load, while
applets from processing.org will not.

Although there seem to be many work-arounds for specific program combinations,
none really seem to address or resolve the issue completely for all
applications. Although I was able to gain additional stability through some of
the aforementioned methods, there are still programs that wreak havoc

criticism, but I agree that it would be nice to have this process
automated a bit... I have been using since Dapper, so I am not a exactly

No prob. Since the round of upgrades yesterday and this morning there have
been no problems... As far as the login screen, nope. X fails to load
completely When X tries to start, it would flash a couple of times and
then take me to the blue/gray screen indicating that X failed to load an
