Public bug reported: After updating today X fails to load. When rebooting, X attempts to start and then fails displaying an error saying that the X server cannot be found and something pertaining to get-edid. I installed read-edid which changed the error message but did not fix the problem. The problem seems to be related to the updates nVidia and kernel 2.6.24.2. When I boot with nVidia driver and 2.6.22.14, the problem does not occur. Also, I can boot with 2.6.22.14 if I use the 'nv' driver. I would display the exact error, but I cannot find the error message anywhere... If anyone knows where the X error message goes, let me know (The error message that displays when the X server fails to load - ie blue screen with gray text telling about X failing to load)...
