I expect to be able to add a new account to Empathy WITHOUT HAVING MY
PASSWORD SAVED. Unfortunately, this is not possible, even in the newest
version of Empathy in Karmic.

This is still the case in the Intrepid Beta.
Interestingly enough, I noticed that booting the laptop with the
wireless switch off, turning the switch on, suspending the system and
then powering it back on will get wireless working, just as if the
system was originally booted with the switch on.

- Unplugging the AC adapter while in Gnome dimmed the screen a little. Plugging

If you're keeping score at home, audio works a-ok on my laptop in
Intrepid Alpha 5. Plugging in headphones mutes the internal speaker and
actually plays sound out of the headphone jack, and the glitchy sound I
described in my previous comment is no longer a problem, either.

When running, I get "Your hardware does not need any restricted
drivers."
I think I can note the specific model number of modem (what Windows says
it is) if desired.
