I am currently unable to test if the bug still exists on the latest
Ubuntu release, however if no attempt was made to fix the bug I think it
would be correct to assume that the bug is still present until it is
tested.

I don't actually have Ubuntu installed on my netbook at the moment. Is

*Meant to say "still existing".
In my opinion is it a ridiculous decision to close a bug when it's still
present and causing an issue. Why would you do this?
The only reason I can think of is because you can't be bothered to fix
it. I'm sorry if this is very accusing but please do not close bugs
Reopening due to the bug re-existing.

Also can you get it running at n mode speeds?

I have got it working using the "21" kernel. However, if I try to use a
later kernel the wireless stops working. And sorry, but I won't be doing
any clean installs considering this is currently my only system and I
don't want to muck it up...

Wow. Thanks, after all of this time I finally have my wireless working
again!
Thank you Heike and everyone else.
The Ubuntu team really should fix this as default though Such an
annoying bug and not what I'd call an "upgrade".

I've held down SHIFT since the BIOS menu came up, I've tapped SHIFT.
I've pressed it once as GRUB was doing stuff. I still don't get the
"Kernel chooser menu"!
