After upgrading to 11.10 my virtual ip addresses do not show up in an
ifconfig (-a).
Furthermore the eth0:1 address seems to be used for eth0 itself, and the
DHCP assigned address (10.8.100.81) is seen as secondary address for
eth0?

I've tried to reset unity for this account using
unity --reset
unity --reset-icons
but that didn't help.
When I create a new user account the icons are shown properly. Also many
of the folder icons are broken as well, for example the home folder and
also for a folder on my
I've tried changing cache.py so that not only Packages.bz2 is accepted
as filetype, but all .bz2 packages. But that resulted in:

Oh, I should read better before commenting. I guess I've also
experienced the XFS /boot problem.
I'll try it with a non XFS /boot partition, and I assume that will

You say you should reformat the partitions. But my experience with this
bug was the following. If I created the mountpoints myself (with amd64
flight 6), I would get this exception. Both mountpoints where set to be
formatted. If I told ubunto to just create the mountpoints by itself,
nothing was wr
