I did some more digging and realised that this was due to a
misconfigured BIOS - I'd been too aggressive in disabling hardware to
save power. Once I restored it to the default setting, suspend/resume
works fine - from the pm_trace logs I suspect the issue was that I'd
disabled the serial port.

I had this problem with 10.04 some years ago. I just updated to 12.04
(and 3.2.0-26-generic kernel) and its back. I am using an older OCZ

Unable to access non-Ubuntu loaders from GRUB2
Update to my last post: it wasn't cut off 100 pixels from the left, it
was actually positioned 100 pixels from the left of the screen. I went
into the preferences and centered it horizontally, and now it is fine.
Because the width is set to 100%, it also stayed in the same position
when I unchecked
I just wanted to add that in Ubuntu 11.10 / Tilda 0.9.6, disabling the
animation fixed the problem. Since I read Roland Hieber's comment above,
I haven't had it go blank on me once. However, I have the width set to
100%, and it now stops about 100 pixels short of the left of the screen.

said on those forums the problem is down to Deferred Procedural Calls
principally it would appear from Network stuff or video stuff, Intel admit that
they have a problem with some of their drivers, and that is demonstr

forums and then on to Intel. What I have found makes me sad and angry at the
same time. This is a hardware problem at a multiplicity of levels which neither
Lenovo or Intel are going to resolve anytime soon if ever.

I just solved this issue for my users on my Ubuntu system... my two

1) Complaint was: terminal sessions freezing up once in a blue moon.
Finally I figured out they had just typoed ^S
2) To fix this I created a script: /usr/local/bin/default-stty

When I upgrade packages, the libpam-runtime upgrade asks:

Then I upgraded to Natty and then immediately to Oneiric just now, and

Issue with Evolution calendar unexpectedly crashing immediately after
loading. The problem appears to be very similar to bug #368508, but
that remedy did not work for me.

This same thing happens to me, but worse - normally upon returning from
the second password prompt to the desktop, I am without keyboard input.
The way I solve it is by choosing System > Preferences > Keyboard >
Layouts, and then toggling the keyboard layout over to 104-key PC and
then back to 105-
What I was pointing out is that 'All Messages' isn't clear. 'Mentions
and Replies' is clearly a subset of 'All Messages', so what else is
included? Does 'All Messages' = status updates + mentions + replies? Or
is there something else in there? The dialog isn't clear about this.
An alternative to t
"Show notifications for:
( ) All messages
( ) Mentions and replies only
( ) Do not display notifications"
Is it possible to describe what 'All messages' refers to? This option is
a bit pointless without that information, since a user has no idea what
they are enabling/disabling.

information. This was two distros ago, and I only vaguely remember the
problem. Yes, I was running under X at the time. I kind of think I was
subsequently able to install a mailcrypt update. And on my laptop (Arch
