I guess it would depend on whether it's a bug in flash or in ubuntu. If the
bug is in flash, then it depends on when Adobe gets off their ass and starts
fixing bugs, this isn't the only bug that's been in their codebase for
years...

This bug still occurs using Flash 10,0,0,525, althought it is not as bad
as it was before. This can be verified by playing Bubble Tanks at
http://www.kongregate.com/games/HeroInteractive/bubble-tanks. The
keyboard will intermittenly stop working until you mouse click within
the flash window.

The bug still exists in Hardy. You can reproduce it the same way in
Hardy that you can in Gutsy. The only difference(for me at least), is
that instead of corrupting the screen with the mouse cursor frozen in
place, the screen goes blank.
For me scorched 3d will cause it to crash pretty quickly i
I spoke too soon, just occurred again, this is on a Thinkpad R61 7738-A16,
under hardy heron.
Different in that it doesn't corrupt the screen, it just switches between video
modes, and that it took much longer to occur. Virtual terminals do not work,
and the only "safe" way to escape is ctrl-a
This appears to be fixed with hardy heron, been running without compiz
for the past few days, and the bug has not appeared again.

I have the same exact bug, running 7.10 on a Thinkpad R61, with the same
chipset and resolution. It happens with Blender and Second Life.
