Though I still got the laptop, I no longer use Ubuntu 12.04 on it and
thus I cannot further test the issue. Furthermore, this laptop is my
main workstation, so I cannot reinstall 12.04 for testing.
I have recently installed Xubuntu 13.10 and did not experience the

Raymond, the subwoofer signal is not a different output-bus on this
laptop, it's something built into the sound card. There's no need to
'jack detect'. I have this laptop and applied the fix mentioned above.
Still, my mixer only shows a stereo output (and the subwoofer works).
I have an ASUS N55SF and I've just tried comment #34 and the subwoofer
works! This is under Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

Hello, also an ASUS N55SF at my possession. I've installed bumblebee from the
PPA and the issue seems to be resolved.
There seems to be no more crazy heat coming out of the air vents and by running
`optirun nexuiz` it ran smoothly and nicely as opposed to running `nexuiz`
which was a bit choppy
That's weird, it did not happen to me when I installed 12.04. Did happen
on 11.10 but it was fixed after an upgrade (when the fix was released).

package and it fell back to using the nouveau driver. This means I am
now on Unity 3D and it works for me just fine.
I didn't try 3D games yet though, and I guess that would require the
'real' nvidia driver.

Tried to install ubuntu with the alternate cd on an old computer (hardy
heron).
The cd-rom does not function very well because it even had problems
burning the iso on a cd. I had to burn it low-speed instead of automatic
speed so this is why I suspect the cd-rom.
