Sorry, yes rather confusing.
Basically in an effort to try and make the issue occur again I was:

- Left then immediately right click in blank s

You are right I should have confirmed it a bit more. Closing Nautilus

Although right clicking and clicking including left draging then right

Another quick thought
are the words "zip" "zipped" "unzip" etc patented but Winzip in some
way?
so to use these words as a generic term for all compression, as apposed
to just referring to a zip file (compressed in zip format etc), may mean
its possible for Ubuntu to be sued for patent\brand usag
Interesting Paper Cut
I just thought I would add something in regards to the "windows" world

Hi there
thought I would +1 to this bug as it is pretty show stopping. I just
updated to the latest patches today (partial upgrade) and have got this

attached is a screenshot of the dialog that occurs. either opening
containing folder or trying to open the file (hoping it will open in the
associated application) gives even if you choose an application (a pain
in the first place) firefox does not remember to open it with this app
the next time
this bug is still there.. its a pretty major problem as well.
im surprised this hasnt been a more reported problem. is it possible the
issue is only with an early version of NBR? this isnt a problem with
9.04 standard on other machines ive installed, only on my eeepc 701
which i installed with NBR
Just reading some of the comments (including johnk above) I think some
people are confused over what is being discussed.
