When I did the first packaging attempt above, wy back in time, at
first I just created a starting point with no intention to go all the
way to include on the distro. After that I thought about it but never

Jonathan, the upstream bug you pointed seems to be closed. Also, I don't
see why hardcode every single device unless you leave an option for
something like tz's patch. Maybe first try to figure out what device is
and, if it's not possible, open a dialog to enter the pin code manually.

Noticed today that bluetooth wasn't active in my Asus G1 notebook
because bluez-utils wasn't installed. Once I installed the package the
device was correctly detected and bluetooth was activated. I can't be
sure if this was corrected recently as hardy Alpha 2 was installed in

The difference is the way configure.ac works. If I use the --enable-ume
method, I explicitely say that I want that platform, the other way the
same flag works for maemo and ume builds but it's more confusing for the
one who looks at it for the first time so I'm switching to --enable-ume.

I totally agree with your point 2 but right now I don't believe we have the
time to do it so, I would like to sugest we split the difference by fixing 1, 3
and 5 for now and leave 2 and 3 (which is a bit of an ugly hack I admit) for a

I tried again and when the crash happens, if I switch to a console, my monitor

In an Asus G1 notebook with nvidia Go 7700, to switch to external monitors one
need the asus-laptop module instead of the default asus_acpi. Once it's
running, an echo 8 > /sys/devices/platform/asus-laptop/display switches to DVI
port and echo 1 > /sys/devices/platform/asus
Just an update that's still an issue.
There's some accounts about creating a .openalrc file pointing to alsa but the
problem remains.
