A) I press Super+L to lock the screen and make it go blank, i.e. turned

B) Or I just wait 15 minutes for the screen to go locked and turned off,

I think it's important for us to distinguish between the default session
in a new install (which is meant to be Wayland), and failing to choose
Xorg when Xorg was used in the previous login. The latter sounds like
more of a bug, and closer to what was initially reported here.

install a development environment

Studio OS that has been installed on my PROXMOX server for several
months. The only thing I have installed on this Desktop is Samba from
sudo apt install samba.
